More than a spy, more than a comic…. review of The Faithful Spy.

The story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer is often left to dry and dusty shelves of theology. Finally, it gets told in a way that reflects the enormous drama of the era and his historic role.

Told with lots of color on the page as well as illustration, The Faithful Spy by John Hendrix is more than a comic story. In fact, it has strong elements of a great novel being told in a fresh new way.

The story sounds a but fantastical, but the historical facts are well researched and highly accurate, revealing the truly heroic nature of Bonhoeffer.

Hendrix has done justice to this great story and it is a pleasure to read regardless of age. As a pastor, I feel good about handing this to teenage confirmation students.

If you don’t know Bonhoeffer, here is an excellent opportunity.
